Highland Dog Hobble – Leucothoe fontanesiana – Added to USWildflowers Database

Highland Dog Hobble, a native species, has been added to the USWildflowers database (08/23/2010.) Scientific name is Leucothoe fontanesiana.  This plant also is known by the common names  Drooping Leucothoe, Fetterbush, and Doghobble.  Photo below was taken in Towns County, Ga near the Talullah River on April 30, 2010.

Hollow Joe Pye Weed – Eupatoriadelphus fistulosus – Added to USWildflowers Database

Hollow Joe Pye Weed, a native species, has been added to the USWildflowers database (08/20/2010 – species number 250!)  Scientific name is Eupatoriadelphus fistulosus although many will know it by Eupatorium fistulosum. Photo below was taken in Walker County, Ga on Aug 17, 2010.

Ground Ivy – Glechoma hederacea – Added to USWildflowers Database

Ground Ivy, a non-native and invasive species, has been added to the USWildflowers database (08/14/2010.)  Scientific name is Glechoma hederacea.  This plant also is known by the common names Gill-over-the-ground, Haymaids, Creeping Charlie, and a few other unkind epithets.  Photo below was taken in our neighborhood in Walker County, GA on 04/04/2010.

Yellow Pond Lily – Nuphar lutea – Added to USWildflowers Database

Yellow Pond Lily, a native species, has been added to the USWildflowers database (08/12/2010.)  Scientific name is Nuphar lutea.  This plant also is known by the common names Cowlily, and Spatterdock.  Photo below was taken on the Stuart River in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in MN on  08/02/2002.

Helmet Flower – Scutellaria integrifolia – Added to USWildflowers Database

Helmet Flower, a native species, has been added to the USWildflowers database (08/09/2010.)  Scientific name is Scutellaria integrifolia.  This plant also is known by the common names Hissopleaf Skullcap, Helmet Skullcap, and Hyssop Skullcap.  Photo below was taken at the Chickamauga National Military Park in GA on  05/31/2010.
