What’s a T@b, you say? Well, first let me apologize to those of you that are expecting wildflowers in an article posted on USWildflowers.com. Gotta admit, this isn’t about wildflowers, although I hope that now that we have a T@b, we’ll be able to get further afield in photographing and identifying wildflowers. You see, a “T@b” is a small travel trailer.

We had previously owned a 36.5′ motorhome, but it turned out that driving around in a small vacation home simply wasn’t nimble enough for our lifestyle. The T@b, at 16′, is short enough to get into almost any campground – a problem in the motorhome, and when we get set up, we can unhook and travel around the area in our tow vehicle. While the T@b doesn’t have an onboard generator, a fully-charged battery should allow us to run essential systems such as vent fan and lighting, possibly even the refrigerator, overnight (or even days if we only use the lighting) without charging, and I hope to add a solar charger to the mix in the future. Connected to shore power, we add an ability to operate the air conditioner for those hot days, and can run the furnace on electric instead of LP for the cold ones. The inside kitchen, in addition to the aforementioned refrigerator, has a 2-burner LP stove and a sink. Our model even has a small wet-bath with toilet and shower.
So, what does that have to do with readers of the USWildflowers.com Journal? Well, this site was started as an aid to my memory. I have used the Journal from time to time to log things that I want to remember other than wildflowers, but have kept those journal entries private. I plan on using the Journal to keep track of campgrounds that I use and other notes on issues surrounding our RV adventures, and am hopeful that some other folks may find that information useful as well, so I plan on making these entries public.
