This is what our “bluebird” birdhouse looked like last year, the first year it was up. Things are more hopeful this year. Read on to check out the prospective occupants checking out their prospective digs.
The male checked out the birdhouse first. Roof looks OK.
Front elevation is acceptible.
Better check inside.
Works for me, need the better half to take a look.

Neighborhood’s a bit busy with that guy sticking his camera in my face.
I’ll check it out.
The view is better over this way.
We’re hopeful.

Gerald, Great shots and you are on the way to fledglings. They explore for days. You might want to put in a sprig of pine needles to provide ‘encouragement”. I always do. Mine have already built nest #1 for 2011 and are in their “resting period”, which based on past years lasts about 4-5 days. Then it will be egg time. follow along at: *** Obsolete URL *** Yours will probably be just a few days behind!
Thanks for the tip, Loret, but while I was out of town for a few days it looks like they may have settled in, so I’ll leave them alone for now. You say nest #1 – do they build a new nest for a 2nd brood? Should we clean out the box after the 1st brood has fledged, or leave it alone all season?
Thanks!
