Cindy and I headed down to The Pocket today not only because I needed to get an update published, but because it was an absolutely beautiful day. And the flowers did not disappoint.
It’s been a very busy two weeks, but we made it down to The Pocket today; unfortunately only the boardwalk. The spectacular show is definitely winding down, but there is still plenty to see. Among the flowers now at peak are the Wild Hyacinth – Camassia scilloides.
Small Camas, a native species, has been added to the USWildflowers database (09/05/2011.) Scientific name is Camassia quamash. It is also known by the common name Quamash. Photo below was taken in Custer County, Idaho on June 13, 2010. Go to the Small Camas Detail Page for more photos and information.
