It was a beautiful morning today, and since I work from home on Mondays I had an extra few minutes before starting work. I used those minutes to walk around our yard taking a few photos:
This Fleabane is growing in our yard along the sidewalk to our driveway. I’m probably a bit negligent with mowing the lawn, and I’m not sure the patches of Fleabane I leave when I do mow are fully appreciated by others. Thanks to my tolerant wife!
Western Thimbleberry, a native species, has been added to the USWildflowers database (06/25/2011.) Scientific name is Rubus parviflorus. It is also known by the common names Salmonberry, Mountain Sorrel, White Flowering Raspberry, and Western Thimble Raspberry. Purple-flowering Raspberry, a native species, has been added to the USWildflowers database (08/29/2010.) Scientific name is Rubus odoratus. This plant also is known by the common name Thimbleberry. Photo below was taken in Haywood County, NC on July 12, 2010.
