Just a Few Photos From My Yard This Morning

It was a beautiful morning today, and since I work from home on Mondays I had an extra few minutes before starting work.  I used those minutes to walk around our yard taking a few photos:

This Fleabane is growing in our yard along the sidewalk to our driveway.  I’m probably a bit negligent with mowing the lawn, and I’m not sure the patches of Fleabane I leave when I do mow are fully appreciated by others.  Thanks to my tolerant wife!

Western Thimbleberry – Rubus parviflorus – Added to USWildflowers Database

Western Thimbleberry, a native species, has been added to the USWildflowers database (06/25/2011.)  Scientific name is Rubus parviflorus.   It is also known by the common names Salmonberry, Mountain Sorrel, White Flowering Raspberry, and Western Thimble Raspberry.  Photo below was taken along the Kleinschmidt Grade in Adams County, ID on June 19, 2011.  Go to the Western Thimbleberry detail page  for more photos and information.

Purple-flowering Raspberry – Rubus odoratus – Added to USWildflowers Database

Purple-flowering Raspberry, a native species, has been added to the USWildflowers database (08/29/2010.)  Scientific name is Rubus odoratus.  This plant also is known by the common name Thimbleberry.  Photo below was taken in Haywood County, NC on July 12, 2010.
