I first saw this plant last week (June 2013) while biking up the Herbert Glacier Trail in Juneau, Alaska. I was fascinated by it and took a photo if you are interested in having me send it to you.

My friend and I were taking a leisurely walk through the Tonto Forest up northeast of Payson, Arizona in June and saw several Bear Corn. At the time neither one of us knew what it was and several attempts to find out brought us no answers. Finally! By the way there were bees everywhere and after touching the Bear Corn, my friend had a very large bumble bee land on his nose. He rode there for more than 40 minutes while we meandered through the tall pines. Fascinating! Yes, I have pictures and videos 🙂
