March 2010 Native Wildflower of the Month – Trout Lily
Posted on April 1st, 2010 No commentsBased on the number of visits to the the wildflower detail pages in the month of March, Trout Lily – Erythronium americanum - returns as the USWildflowers Native Wildflower of the Month for March, 2010.
Erythronium americanum also goes by the common name Dogtooth Violet, which is the USDA national common name for the species. Some folks also refer to this species as Yellow Trout Lily, but there the Common Name Problem rears its head, because Yellow Trout Lily is also the USDA national common name for Erythronium rostratum.
