Several days of warm weather over the past couple of weeks, as well as some sunshine, something we missed in early February, has brought about the beginning of the wildflowers at The Pocket at Pigeon Mountain.

This is the beginning of the 2010 reporting on the wildflower status of The Pocket at Pigeon Mountain in Walker County, Georgia, the site that is described by the Georgia Botanical Society as “the premier spot in Georgia for early wildflowers.”

There is now a page on USWildflowers.com dedicated to The Pocket at Pigeon Mountain, including the Shirley Miller Wildflower Trail. This page has information about this wonderful area owned and managed by the State of Georgia, and also includes several wildflower identification sheets which you can print and take with you on your visit to The Pocket to help identify the flowers you see.
