      Unlikely to be Trillium maculatum. Michigan does, however, have two very similar trilliums – Trillium recurvatum (Prairie Trillium) and Trillium sessile (Sessile trillium.) Both of those are Threatened in Michigan, and thus are protected species.

      There are similar sessile Trillium found in Missouri. Unfortunately due to other projects I won’t have the time necessary to research those species.
