it was stated that this flower doesn’t grow anywhere but Idaho and maybe Montana. It grows in Mew Mexico, in the Zuni mountians.

According to both BONAP and the USDA Plants Database, Castilleja covilleana grows only in Idaho and Montana. There are many species of Indian Paint Brush (Castilleja) that grow elsewhere, including a dozen or more species that grow in New Mexico. On the other hand, it’s possible that I’ve misidentified this species; there are a couple that grown both in New Mexico and in Idaho.
