Common Monkeyflower – Mimulus Guttatus
July 28, 2016…Allendale, MI 49401… It says that this flower grows along swamp beds, however, we are having such a dry summer that our lawns have gone dormant except for carpets of the Mimulus guttatus; it is EVERYWHERE! It’s a lovely thing to ser, but, after 55 Michigan summers I’ve never seeing this dainty, orchid like flower in such abundance! My friend flies the area using a drone, with permission and he has gotten spectacular footage of the lawns and fields thick with this. Wish I understood why now of all summers. It is so dry.
