I hadn’t heard of it either until a few years ago I passed someone on a trail who asked if I had seen the green violets back the trail a bit. Not knowing what to look for, and since they don’t really stand out, I walked by the indicated area without seeing them. I went home and looked them up, and since then have stumbled upon them in several places.
